Charles Lee HALLETT
I returned to college in Winter 2024 at age 66 to elevate my "side-hustle" in media sales to a more polished professional effort. My goals are to acquire modern skills, network with resources, and put credentials around my experience. I also wanted to advance my abilities in video production and photography. This is a collection of my better work as I progress through the program. -Dec. 8, 2024

*NOTE - This is a draft of design I submitted with the Northeast State logo and is not approved for distribution.
I'm passionate about voting, and especially wanted to help with a voter registration drive for 2024 as a community service effort. This is the front and back design of a postcard sized handbill I proposed to produce.

Generative A.I. Tools
Generative A.I. (and the data centers that support it) are controversial topics in the creative world. Ethical and sustainable application of high technology tools for low-cost visualizations whether it be relatable characters for story-telling or graphic displays for business communications are valid.
These are examples images used in various projects and that can be used for commercial purposes. The graphic below is AdMan. He comes to bring high-tech low-cost business solutions.
Spring 2025
The assignment was to create two posters for a fictional global music festival in portrait and landscape mode and separate motifs. One motif features a hot sun summer feel and the other conveys a watery seaside vibe. There's a lot of fonts and a couple icon designs for the bands.
I was conflicted about the typhoon design, but the more I look at it, the more I like it. I struggled with an acceptable Manta icon and I think it still needs work. My favorite element is the NATIV icon which seemed to fall together by itself.
A project as big as an international music festival that is projected to draw major audiences from all over the world needs to be announced with a press release.
If you're going to promote a sensational global music festival, you need to line up great bands! Here is a design of a CD case for a fictional group called NATIV and an album called FIERCE. I used photos for the front and back, chose the fonts and contrived the song names. The surfboard shaped design is mine.
I composed the aboriginal person and art in black and white to accentuate the tension and harmony that jungle peoples balance to survive and flourish in a hostile environment. They walk cautiously but unafraid.
Experimenting with LOGOS!
Logos are fun to design and colorful for classroom projects. But Logos are a serious business asset that need to convey the essence of the business in a way that is universally recognized.
These are examples of the work that I did in college for various projects and examples of layups on promo items. The gold shirt below is an actual client item. The Media Club design was a logo I created for the group at Northeast State Community College. The design for KimPat Hunting & Fishing Adventures was one of my first attempts at creating a logo/business presence around 2005.
Design/Layout of a Two-Sided Post Card Sized Ad.
Print ads is where I got my start more than 25 years ago. I worked for two magazines where I designed ads for the space that I sold.
